I spent a long while deciding what this piece needed for words. I was thinking about healing core wounds, and how it takes time. But then I remembered that we can't always heal from everything, and how that's absolutely okay.

This song by Tool has helped me remember this many times.

What's more important is that we continue on, as a listener to our bodies and after life something else. But that it is all temporary- which, strangely, makes everything feel safe? You are allowed to suffer, just as you are allowed to experience rapturous joy. All of this is okay. All of this is safe and valid and part of this short shared experience we're having here.

But even after, you will always be there for yourself. This is law. ❤ You are magnificent- and life is strange.

About the Artist

Dionne Ong is a mixed-race Asian Canadian artist whose work provokes and challenges her viewers' connection with nature, infinity, and self-love.

She has an 'every day' practice, most notably publishing 261 unique illustrations in 2021.

"It's so easy to see the magic in Mother Nature and animals, and deem them worthy of love. And yet, we struggle to allow ourselves to be worthy of love- despite being part of nature. The purpose of my work has always been to connect you to your magic."
